The A+ Certification program was established by the Computing Technology Industry Association (also known as CompTIA) and is sponsored by many of the larges PC vendors in the industry. The purpose of this certification is to set a standard for those working as technicians, help desk and support staff in the personal computer industry.
A+ Certification has become one of the most sought-after industry credential. Many employers require their technicians to become A+ Certified. These companies noticed an increase in customer satisfaction, improved hiring capabilities and better retention of employees. Certified professionals increase their marketability and their earning potential.
An A+ Certificate shows that the applicant posses the competency essential to be a successful computer service technician. To become certified, a candidate must pass two test modules- the "Core," and either a DOS/Win or Macintosh module. The two-part exam covers hardware and software technologies and is not related to any vendor specific products.
